Moving to the Big Island of Hawaii, our family’s journey
Packing…this is the biggest pain in my ass, well maybe not. All of this is a pain to be quite honest. From negotiating with potential buyers of our treasured possessions, coordinating move in dates and rental cars, to trying to figure out how to get my two beloved girls to clean, pack and organize personal treasures. What to get rid of and what to keep? Lots of tears…let that sink in guys and I mean the men of the household. I love my kids and my wife dearly and seeing my girls in tears over the loss of a stuffed animal is heart breaking. I admit, that it frustrates me to no end sometimes. The big M day is rapidly approaching and our house is a complete disaster and it looks like we have way more than we started with because our entire life for the past 5 or so years is scattered about in our living space. This is the reality of moving anywhere, not just 4500 miles away. This daunting task would be much easier if we could simply pack a truck and go..No, not us. We are the Whiteheadd’s and we don’t do small or easy. We go big and all out.
As of right now, as you, my beloved fan base reads this, we have about 3 weeks to go and our moving sale date is knocking at our door, along with all the annoying early big buyers that try to low ball us into selling a 2 dollar stuffed giraffe for fifty cents. The stress of all this is getting to me and every one under our roof. Alas! There is light at the end of the tunnel. Hawaii…a land of magic that will take away all our cares as we sunbathe on a secluded beach that is only seconds from our new abode. Keep your focus on the prize Patrick, this is what I keep telling myself. Be happy, show sympathy, and kindness to your kids and all will be right with the world when my feet hit the volcanic lava rock that is to be our home.
If it feels like I am rambling, it is because I am. It’s early and I an over medicated from the head cold that I am fighting. But this is reality for everyone out there who might have a dream of living on an island, in a home with a cool ass outdoor shower and a panoramic view of the Pacific. Keep dreaming and forging ahead and you too can make it happen. More later. Cheers!
